Pay Range: $18.71 to $27.03 per hour.
Reports To: Transportation/Maintenance Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt Full Time
Under the direction of the Transportation/Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker II is responsible for performing general and advance maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping functions for the North Fork Rancheria’s Tribal Government Office, Community Center, and all other facilities. The Maintenance Worker II will be responsible to interface and communicate with all segments of society in a manner that is professional and that represents the organization in a positive image.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.0 Custodial Duties:
1.1 Responsible for the maintaining of clean and sanitary facilities. This includes dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, polishing, window cleaning, sanitizing; washing walls baseboards, windowsills, light fixtures, cabinets, and other surfaces.
1.2 Ensures that facilities are welcoming and clean by regularly cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.
1.4 Ensure spaces are prepared for the next day by taking out trash, tidying furniture, and dusting surfaces.
1.5 Responsible for keeping areas clean by sweeping and mopping floors and vacuum carpets.
1.6 Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, etc.).
1.7 Maintain outer premises by watering plants, mowing lawn, cleaning entrances.
1.8 Utilize insecticides to prevent infestation by dangerous pests.
1.9 Perform maintenance and minor repairs (replacing broken switches, fixing door handles, minor leaks etc.).
1.10 Remains proactive by reporting damages to supervisor. May be asked to conduct repair.
1.11 Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows, and setting alarms.
1.12 Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial tasks (shoveling snow from the sidewalk, lifting heavy items, moving chairs etc.
2.0 Maintenance Duties:
2.1 Maintain grounds for all NFR locations and facilities. This includes hedging, weeding, raking, disposing of garbage, sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and installation of mortar less segmental concrete masonry wall units etc.
2.2 Purchase and pick up supplies/equipment as needed.
2.3 Assemble furniture/equipment as required.
2.4 Responsible in maintaining on sight and off-site storage facilities.
2.5 Maintain supply and property inventory control.
2.6 Maintain storage security locks and assist with NFR key inventory.
2.7 Take initiative and recommend effective maintenance & safety procedures.
2.8 Coordinate with vendors as it pertains to the NFR maintenance.
2.9 Assist with NFR Council Meetings and events as it pertains to set-up,
2.10 Transport supplies/equipment and clean-up.
2.11 Maintain cleaning supplies & order supplies as required.
3.0 General Expectations to Performance:
3.1 Responsible for participating in organizational committee and general meetings.
3.2 Role-models professional behavior for staff as a member of TANF/NFR leadership.
3.3 Expected to assist in day-to-day when necessary to meet necessary deadlines.
3.4 Responsible for aiding other departments as needed in a prompt, courteous and efficient manner.
3.5 Additional work-related duties as assigned. These duties may be given either verbal or in writing.
3.6 Adhere to the confidentiality and code of conduct policies.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSE/CERTIFICATION, & SKILLS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalency
Minimum 5 (five) years’ experience in custodial, maintenance, landscaping, or another related field
Possess a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License.
• Possesses understanding of general to advanced maintenance, custodial & grounds keeping functions.
• Understands safety and sanitary hazards.
• Excellent understanding of curb side beautification and landscaping methods.
• Understanding of construction techniques.
• Understanding basic plumbing methods.
• Ability to identify basic electrical hazards.
• Ability to obtaining estimates and quotes from various vendors and proper invoice distribution.
• Understands purchasing and Inventory processes.
• Ability to identify problems and discuss appropriate action with supervisor.
• Developing work systems which will expedite the efficiency for this position.
• Expected to maintain and prioritize work orders.
• Analyze complex maintenance & safety issues and recommend viable solutions.
• Prepare maintenance reports as requested by supervisor.
• Can assist supervisor in training other members of the team to expectations for performance of job.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with other employees, agents of government, tribal citizens, and the public.
• Ability and willingness to maintain a positive attitude while receiving and properly carrying out directives.
• Perform independently in a manner which positively impacts the image and credibility of the North Fork Rancheria.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee regularly works within the office and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. Lift a minimum of 50 lbs., climb a flight of stairs carrying heavy equipment, climb a 12-foot ladder.
